AKEEM RAPHAEL

A self-taught musician, producer and DJ, Akeem Raphael has quickly become one of the most exciting names in the house music scene. 
His first release rocketed to the Juno Download No.1 spot and he's followed that up with Top 10 hits across Juno and Traxsource. 2021 ended on a high with 2 releases in the Juno 'Best of 2021' chart and repeat plays on BBC Introducing, a high-profile platform for new musicians and producers. 
He's started this year in typically energetic form by signing records to iconic labels King Street Sounds and New York imprint Nervous. 
Alongside his solo career, Akeem is bringing his funky, jackin' house sound to several high-profile collaborations including several incoming releases with Traxsource favourites Da Funk Junkies on Cleveland City Records and another on Crystal Waters' label I Am House. And keep an ear out for his other collaborations alongside NUMA A TFIVE and FederFunk. 
Musically, Akeem straddles the line between house, funk, disco and jackin', cherry-picking from each genre to create his own unique blend of beats. Think James Brown jamming with Prince to a slamming beat and you're in the right disco.
Those high profile releases have brought him some equally high profile residencies.
Alongside that, he's played parties at legendary Leeds' rave bunker Distrikt, Calluna Bar and Box. Akeem is also a radio favourite, with regular interviews and features on BBC Introducing and Leeds' FM station LDC. 
His progression as one of the most exciting producers is just the latest chapter in his musical journey. Akeem is a self-taught musician who can sing and play keys, bass, guitar and drums. And that talent quickly saw him become part of the Nottingham live scene, picking up gigs alongside Jake Bugg, Rag'N'Bone Man and several local festivals.
